Teruko Yokoi “Listen to a Painting”

《Morning Blue》
1957, Oil on canvas

Many of Teruko Yokoi’s works seem as if “sound” can be heard through the rich colors she creates. From paintings of nature, one can hear the swaying of flowers and the sound of the wind, and from paintings of the surface of lakes, one can hear the silence. The echoes of colors and shapes in the paintings also give the viewer a sense of harmony and rhythm, similar to that of music.
In this exhibition, we would like to listen to various works in which we can feel “tone” and “rhythm” from the paintings. We hope you will enjoy a different kind of appreciation of paintings.
